3 Reasons to Sail Out of San Diego
There are hundreds if not thousands of cruise ports around the world and they all have pros and cons. But one of my favorite ports that I’ve sailed from was San Diego, California.
If you are looking for a cruise port that has easy access to your ship, a variety of hotel options near the port plus other walkable experiences like dining, then don’t overlook San Diego.
Here are 3 reasons why it’s so easy to sail out of San Diego:
The airport is a short distance (roughly 10 minutes! in most cases). This makes it very easy for your arrival the day before your cruise but also easier to fly back home the same day as your cruise without having to wait around all day for a flight.
Hotel options are right across the street where you can even watch the ships come and go and then easily walk to your ship the day of your embarkation. Plus, many of the hotels offer free shuttles to and from the airport as well.
Dining, shopping and more just steps away- while San Diego does have amazing experiences like SeaWorld and the San Diego Zoo, there are also experiences just steps from your bayside hotel to enjoy the night before your cruise (I personally LOVED Miguel’s Cocina right on the water).
Most cruises out of San Diego will be Baja or Mexico cruises and you can sail with Disney, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Norwegian and a few other cruise lines.
