I’m Amy and I was born and raised in southwest Michigan (I’ve lived in the same 30 minute radius my whole life!). I live here with my husband of over 10 years, our 2 dogs (both dachshunds with Harry Potter themed names) and our son (born late 2025 who we affectionally call Baby Fish).

Let’s start with my fitness story- I grew up enjoying sports but never played super competitively due to attending a small school.  While in college, I started out as an English major with the intention to go into editing but while I was taking a general health and wellness course, I started working at the gym at the community college and was challenged by my instructor to consider “Exercise Science” (to which I replied “what is that? I don’t like science” haha).

I ended up changing my major to Exercise Science and even earned my Master of Science in Exercise Physiology.  I worked full time in the fitness industry until 2021 with a passion for group fitness because of the way it brings so many people together from all walks of life.

I also joined the Les Mills US Trainer/Assessor/Presenter (TAP) team in 2019 and I still enjoying teaching Les Mills classes a couple days per week while also training and assessing some of my favorite programs.

In 2017, I asked my best friend to help me with a bucket list goal- to complete a RunDisney event. So we signed up for the 2018 Princess Half Marathon weekend. While I enjoyed Disney movies as a child, I was not raised in a “Disney” family or would have even considered myself a Disney adult. I had taken a few trips over the years but honestly this was the start of me becoming a Disney adult and realizing I needed a little more magic in my own life.

At this time, I was also working multiple jobs in the fitness industry and often gone 60+ hours per week. My husband and I were trying to start a family and I knew my current work schedule was not going to be conducive for the lifestyle we wanted for our future child.

I took my RunDisney Princess trip in 2018 and was hooked (I signed up for the Wine and Dine race weekend for later that year within a week of returning home).  While planning these trips, I actually had been working with a couple different travel agents on the different trips and was disappointed with the service offered.

Enter Goofy Getaways towards the end of 2017…

I had actually reached out to one of the agents on the team- Kelly Fales for a quote to visit Walt Disney World and was so impressed by her service and professionalism.  Because I was also doing some planning on the other trips, I began to research what was involved in being a travel agent.  Was this something I could do from home?  What kind of education and experience was needed?

I applied and interviewed with Goofy Getaways and was initially asked to wait.  I continued to research other agencies but I knew Goofy Getaways was going to be home for me.

In June 2018, I officially started with Goofy Getaways as a travel consultant.  Since that time, I worked hard to grow my business to a level where I could take a dramatic step back from the fitness industry and work full-time from home. I also stepped into leadership roles with Goofy Getaways through the years and I am currently our Vice President of Communication and Development- which means my main focus for the agency is to help the agency grow by developing our agents as well as maintain communication with our vendors and clients.

Fast forward to 2025, my husband and I are finally expecting our first (human) child and thanks to the amazing clients I’ve had with Goofy Getaways, I am able to have the flexibility to work full-time from home.  I am able to support my clients from my home office (or my bed when I’m feeding my new baby in the middle of the night) and help them find magical destinations to explore.
